APSF Statement on Supreme Court Decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Case

June 30, 2022

Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation (APSF)The APSF joins with numerous healthcare organizations to express concern over the recent Supreme Court decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health, which overturned Roe v. Wade and eliminates the federal protections for people to access evidence-based, autonomous healthcare.

The APSF’s primary concern relates to potential patient safety issues that might evolve as a result of the decision. Legislative, regulatory, or judicial intervention that interferes with the relationship and decisions between patients and healthcare professionals stands to jeopardize delivery of evidence-based care and ethical standards of healthcare.

Consistent with our mission and values, the APSF strongly supports unobstructed and equitable patient access to healthcare and opposes the criminalization of health care professionals for providing comprehensive, patient-centered, and data-driven safe care.
